"In reply"

I'm going to post the poem I was replying to with this one in the comments. I'd appreciate it if you check it out, because it really is thought-provoking.

It could be the same, if you think about it.
It could be the same, under different circumstances,
change.
Or perhaps not.
Girls will be girls, in this century,
or the next.
And it's depressing, of course.
If you think about it too much,
if you dwell on it, til it
eats you up, til it
spits you out.
But there's an exception to the rule.
Always.
And maybe things are changing,
maybe times are going crazy, or
getting better.
Who knows?
The only thing to do is to be
inspired. Inspiring.
There's nothing more powerful
than an example.
Honestly.
Sex appeal or not,
life itself is appealing.
And it's time people started
remembering that.

"girls [spoken word]"

the younger the girls,
the more they think they need someone?

i mean,
why do i always hear

"i need a guy" [???]
or
"being single sucks" [???]

just when i thought adolescent womanhood was turning around
saying single is better and boys are stupid and
i am woman hear me roar and
i'll take care of myself thank you very much?

and why does it seems for the wrong reason they're trying to get a guy?
sexuality confused with reality.
dependency when dependency is met with booty calls and false love.

why is it that you can't get a girl to sit still anymore?
no house chores or homework on a desk.

it's "study groups" ending with drunk girls on the floor.

and why is it cool for skirts to get smaller,
phone calls getting longer,
girl fights and pin stripes and cleavage and ...

and what about this --
Sex and the City.
OMFG.

where the target audience is all under 30?

what happened to female astromauts
and making a political statement without negative exploitation and
revealing dirt in the truth?

girls aren't the same when the same girls down here think
belly button rings and tongue rings are a must-have this season.

girls aren't the same when the same girls down here think
it's cool to date a guy that thinks girls are toys.
and minds are useless and hearts are measured by how much you spend on
girls ...

it's a scary world.
confidence is driven by sex appeal.
smarts are carried out in the streets and not in the books.
attitude means drama and crazy means down right sane.

makes me think about my little girl.

oh yeah, I love the pirates soundtrack. I also like the LOTR one.

Nice poem. I like the last two lines.
